Need to learn how to maximize savings

2 Oct

One thing that I’ve learned over the past few months is that its awesome to maximize savings.  I used to go to the store all the time as a kid with my grandma she would have boxes and boxes of coupons.  She would cut them in the kitchen for hours and then spend hours sorting them.  When we went out to the store she would always have a coupon for almost every product she bought and would be upset if she needed to buy something without a coupon.  (Because she knew next week that coupon would be in her mailbox.)

As I got older I hated seeing people with coupons and just thought it was a big hassle and wasn’t worth the time and effort.  I saw how much time and effort my grandmother spent doing the coupons and couldn’t possible see the value of her time.  But now understanding that she (A) enjoyed couponing and (B) would never pay full price for anything I have a better appreciation for her time and the things she valued.

Planning ahead in this time of instant gratification also pays.  I recently signed up at shop.com/gordoncandrews and started earning cash back on my purchases.  I’ve earned cash back by purchasing Dunkin Donuts gift cards at least 18% discount, by eating out at a local restaurant, and by shopping at Kohls.

If you learn to plan your purchases a head of time you can place your products into the cart at the stores and figure out how much you are going to spend.  Then look around for the best return for your money.

If you going to shop at Old Navy

then your probably going to head over to

buy buy BABY , and chances are if you have a baby your going to be visiting both stores a lot over the next few years.
